Blood Donation

I just donated my blood at Ripas Hotel in Brunei. This is my eighht time donating blood and first time in Brunei. I donated my blood in UTAR in Selangor for the previous seven time.

'Donate blood, Save a Life'. This is the slogan used during the Blood Donation Campaign organized by First Aid Society in UTAR. Yes, this is true. There is no guarantee that our blood donated will and can be used to help others who need it. Examination of the blood needs to be carried out and our blood can only be kept for around 2 weeks if I am not mistaken. However, the action of a person to donate blood is important. When more people are donating blood, there are higher chances that there will be enough bloods to help the patients who really need the blood urgently.

Hence, for those who can and able to donate blood, please do so. It wont be painful and the process of donating the blood also wont take you long time. There are patients in the hospital who really require your blood to stay alive.

CNY is coming soon

Chinese New Year will be coming very soon. It is just around one more week to go for this festive season to come. I am now helping my mother to clean the house and I have also started to decorate the house. We have not buy the new year snacks, soft drinks and so on yet. I also not yet bought my new sport shoe. I hope to buy and ready all the things by this week.

We will go Kuching to celebrate CNY this time. It has been around 10 years (I also forget the last time we went back) that we did not go back Kuching to celebrate CNY. Kuching is the hometown of my parents and almost all of our cousins are living there. We will eat our tuan yuan fan (New Year Eve Dinner) in Brunei. After that, we plan to stay overnight in Miri before we depart to Kuching in the early morning of the first day of CNY. It will take approximately 12 hours drive to Kuching from Miri. Hence, it will be evening by the time we reach Kuching. We will stay there for around three to four days. We will back to Brunei on 10th or 11th February.

I really hope that our family trip will be enjoyable this time. To all my friends who are driving back to hometown for CNY, please do drive carefully. For those who take bus or follow friends' car, you all must also take care. Wish all of you Happy advanced CNY. Take care!!!

Blogging

Blogging can be considered to be one of my hobbies and things that I will and can do during my free time. Blog is a place for us to express our feelings, to write up our opinions and ideas about some current issues and so on. It is also a place for us to share our working or study life. I think more and more people are getting interested in blogging and start to write their own blog. This is a good trend.

Of course, bloggers must also be careful when writing their blogs. Although we support the freedom of voicing up our opinions and ideas, try not to write words that may hurt someone, particular country, religion and race.

In addition, when you write your blog, you have to know that your blog can be read by anyone. That's the purpose of blogging. It is not like your own diary where you can write your secret things which you would not want to let others know. It is more about sharing and expresing ideas and opinions.

Why choose accounting as my profession?

Why did I choose to take accounting degree? Why do I want to pursue ACCA in the future after I start working?

My FORM 3 Government exam result was not so good. So, I had to study art stream rather than science stream. However, I have a chence to transfer to science stream but I choose not to because I did not really like science subjects. I am more interested in business subjects like commercial studies, accounting and economics. In addition, I like numbers too. Because of my choice, I was the top 1 students in my class during my FORM four and five studies. In addition, I scored quite well for my GCE O'Level results and I further my study in FORM six. My GCE A'level result was also quite well.

I chose to study accounting in UTAR. At first, I thought of taking economics as I am also very interested in this subject. But, at the time I fill in the application form, there was no economics degree to choose. Hence, I chose accounting at the end. However, when I started my study in UTAR, I just realised that UTAR does offer an economic degree. Never mind. Since I have chosen accounting, why not continue?

With an accounting degree, it is not difficult to find jobs. This is because every company requires accountants. Foreignt countries especially China like to employ our Malaysian accountants. Accountants will have a bright future. A number of successful entrepreneurs are from accounting background. A very good example is Tony Fernandes, the AirAsia's CEO. He is an ACCA member as well. This is another reason why I did not give up in accounting. I also hope that I can be a successful entrepreneur in the future.

I will now work as an audit assistant in BDO, a top 5 accounting firm in Malaysia. We can learn alot of things when we are working as auditor in accounting firm. Hence, graduates are advised to go to auditng field first before working in commercial world. Some partners in top accountin firm have mentioned before that 3 years in accounting firm is similar to working around five years in commercial industries.

I never regret that I chose accounting as my profession. I will work hard and smart as well to fulfill my dream as a successful entrepreneur. I have to be determined and cannot easily give up when facing problems and difficulties. Wish that I will be success. I will work step by step to this difficult route to success.

What am I doing in Brunei?

I am now still relaxing myself in Brunei. What am I doing here in Brunei, a nice and peaceful country? I read both chinese and english newspapers, take care of my elder brother's one year old daughter, shop with my parents, watch astro programmes, play with my younger brother and so on. I havent started to meet my friends in Brunei. Hopefully, I will be able to meet them this or next week.

My UTAR convocation will be either on 29 March afternoon or 30 March (Sunday) morning. My whole family members including my parents, my elder brother and his wife and daughter and my younger brother will come to kl on 26 March until 30 March. Hopefully, we can take a family photo togather and have fun during this trip. My father has never come to kl because he always wanted to work so that he can earn money for me and my younger brother to study. I hope that I am able to reduce the financial burden of my father as I will start to work next month.

Back to Brunei

At last, I am back to Brunei. Nice feeling, home sweet home! Just now, I just celebrated my father's birthday at home. I drove myself with my father from Miri to Brunei. During the last five days, I was in Kuching for holiday. Chiew Teck, my good friend and Ah Wei, my cousin brought me to many interesting places to visit in Kuching such as Crocodile Farm, Kuching Museum, Damai Beach and so on. In addition, I also ate alot of nice Kuching's food like Kolo Mee, Laksa, Kueh Chap and so on.

Kuching trip really marks the end of my travel for this holiday. It's time for me to take a very good rest and relax for this whole month. I want to take this good opportunity to be with my family as it would be more difficult for me to take a long break to stay with my family next time after I start working next month.

Going Kuching tomorrow!

At last, tomorrow I will fly to Kuching, Sarawak for few days before I fly back to Brunei on 14 January. I miss my family so much.

Did I took too much rest before working? Most of my friends already started working or studying acca but I am still having my holiday! Anyway, since I already made this decision, I just have to accept it. I want to be with my family for a while before I work. Moreover, 14 January will be my father's chinese birthday. So, I will be back just in time to celebrate with my father.

After one month, my working life will start and I am sure that I will be very busy after that. This is a reality. I will try my best to be the best, to be successful, to fulfil my dream to a successful entrepreneur!!!

The End of my Travel in Peninsular Malaysia!

Today, I just came back from Langkap, a small town in Perak to visit my foster family. During the 4 days 3 night stay, I went to Pangkor Island with my foster family and ate nice seafood in Sitiawan. Other than that, I just yumcha with few of my good friends in Langkap. This trip also means the end of my travel and holiday in Peninsular Malaysia before I start working next month.

During this one month time, I travelled to many places in the Peninsular Malaysia - Pangkor Island, Pulau Pinang, Butterworth, Cameron Highlands, Melaka, Kluang (Johor), Langkap, and Kampar. However, I never travel to few states such as Kelantan, Terrengganu and Perlis. Hope that I will have a chance to travel to these states in the future.

This thursday, I will fly to Kuching for 5 days 4 night to meet my cousin and ex-housemates. It has been quite some time that I didnt go to Kuching. I am really looking forward for this trip. After that, I will fly back to Miri then to Brunei to celebrate and prepare for Chinese New Year with my dearest family members. I miss my family so much. That's why I choose not to work so early but to take a good rest and stay with my family before I start working next month. I scare that I will not have much time to go back to Brunei mainly because my job as audit assistant will make me quite busy for sometimes.

Anyway, let me enjoy the one more month holiday!!!
